Still life and figure painting

Last summer, in July 2012, I attended a one week course at the Florence Academy of Art in Gothenburgh, Sweden. During that week, which was much anticipated, I recieved tutoring on realist painting for the first time! Each student painted one still life and one figure painting. I learned a great deal during that week. So, here they are: my first  figure and still life painting. Very basic and apparently not finished work but very helpful for the future.

Here is the palette I used for the still life.

The red (vermillion?) was for blending some of the blue mixes.
