Portraits of women under water, landscape and charcoal figure studies

These are some of the projects I've been working on lately: Paintings and drawings. And what they looked like during the course of work.

Painting practice after Leonardo. I think that learning by looking at someone elses work is fascinating. 

I'm quite unhappy with the result of this figure drawing. I didn't finish it in time. 

Making a stencil

I made a spray painting today, using the drawing in my previous post #Dear Suzy, when? to make a stencil.

So. I first made the drawing, had it enlarged a great deal (!), cut out the dark bits with a knife and then spray painted it onto one side of a big cube. It's a first try. Perhaps next time i try it it will look better.

Cutting out the darker shadow shapes. I still can't feel my forefinger since doing this. It's just gone.

And...done. It was so so cold. I went home early. Next time i'll stick to black and white, or work more thoroughly w the background. :) Also, I accidently left some tape on the stencil so I didn't get the shapes right. 

Dear Suzy, when?

I just finished this graphite drawing, portraying a scene from Wes Anderson's movie Moonrise Kingdom, which I happen to be fond of. The end result will be a surprise and will be finished this Thursday.

Sketching a winter self portrait

I made a sketchy drawing of my own face.

New studio, new year.

So eventually I got myself a new easel after moving far away from what used to be my home. Today I've been putting it together. :) I also grounded some canvases with raw umber and turpentine. Now all I need before I start painting, is good lighting, and to pass a couple of exams. My appartment smells of turpentine and blue hyacinths.

A bit of publicity

My charcoal cast of Beethoven was featured in a fashion shoot in the April 2012 issue of Swedish fashion magazine Plaza Kvinna. Am happy about that. 

Cast drawings

A cast drawing is a charcoal drawing done after a cast. Such as this cast of Dionysos.

This little guy somewhat reminds me of the youngest member of the Stark family of the Game of Thrones: Rickon Stark. :)

Figure drawing, Florence

Charcoal figure drawings I made at the Florence Academy of Art in Florence, Italy, in 2008. At the drawing program the long figure poses are normally 5 weeks.
